Our Day by Day Kilimanjaro Hiking Lemosho Route 8 Days / 7 Nights
This is the longest and most remote route to Kilimanjaro. After beautiful forests and moor lands it crosses the Shira Plateau to meet up with the Machame Route.
A great landscape from day two just after day one gone through rain forest, as the forests around the Lemosho Glades are rich in buffalo, elephant and other game which Migrate from Ambosel in Kenya.
The South Circuit is then followed, offering superb views of the Southern Ice fields, past the Barranco Camp, then on to Barafu and hence the summit whereby before reaching Barafu base camp you have a beautiful vegetation .
A party wishing to ascend slowly can comfortably take 8 days on this route as described below.
However the campsite at Shira Hut and at Karanga Valley could be left out by a very strong party on request.
Accommodation on the mountain is in tents which the will be pitch for you with our team.
You will need a sleeping bag, warm clothes and walking poles if needed. This is a steep, tough trek within the limits of a fit individual used to walking in mountain areas and person mind.
Arrive hotel in Moshi (B&B).
Day 1: After breakfast in your hotel drive to Londorossi Park Gate Here you will spend half an hour for registration and obtain your Permit for your climb after this procedure then you will continue on to the Lemosho Glades (2100m, 3hr./ 6825Ft). Walk along forest trails to Mti Mkubwa (big tree) campsite, (2750m, and 3hr/9100Ft) dinner overnight.
Time: 3-4 Hrs.
Day 2: The trail steepness and crosses several streams in the giant heather zone. The Shira Ridge is crossed (3505mt/ 11500Ft) to the Shira Plateau, camp by stream. (3505mt 4-5hrs) dinner overnight.
Day 3: A gentle walk across the plateau leads to Shira Hut camp on moorland meadows by a stream (3840m, 12500Ft). A variety of walks are available on the Plateau making this an excellent acclimatization day, dinner overnight.
Time: 3-4 Hrs
Day 4: A rocky path leads east up towards the Lava Tower for acclimatization at 4630Mt/ 15190Ft). Shortly beyond this, you descend to Barranco campsite (3950mt, 5-6h/ 13044Ft) dinner overnight.
Time: 5-6 Hrs
Day 5: Scramble easily to the top of the Great Barranco wall 4200Mt in a clear day you have opportunity of amazing landscape and then a traverse over screens and ridges toKaranga Valley campsite (3hrs, 3937m. 13106Ft) beneath the icefalls of the Southern Glaciers dinner overnight.
Time: 2-3 Hrs
Day 6: The trail ascends a ridge to a campsite by the Barafu Hut, an airy location with little vegetation (3hrs, 4600m. /15331Ft) this is a relatively short climb but by no means easy, dinner over night.
Time: 2-3 Hrs.
Day 7: Start just after midnight for the ascent of the screens leading to Stella Point (6h, 5739m.). From here a further 45mins leads to Uhuru Peak. Descend to Barafu Camp for a rest and breach before continuing down to camp at Mweka Camp at 3100m, 10065Ft (12-13hrs total walking time).
Ascending from Base camp to Uhuru peak 5Km the descent back to Base camp 5KM.
Time; ascent for summit 6-7Hrs Descent back to Base Camp Barafu 3 Hrs
Distance: Downhill to Mweka Campsite from Base camp 12km down to Mweka Campsite.
Time: 4hrs down to Mweka Campsite 3-4 hrs while you are increase Oxygen, dinner overnight Mweka Campsite.
Day 8: This is by easiest day as it is downhill and the oxygen supply increase as you go down, you will reach Mweka Gate 1640Mt (5380Ft) at about 11:00am complete signing out and meet your vehicle here drive to the hotel in Moshi (B&B).
Each person has 4 Support Crew in any camping.
